“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.”
2 Timothy 4:7 NLT
Paul is nearing the end of his amazing life. Radically changed by an encounter with the risen Jesus; Paul goes from a Christian killing Pharisee zealot to a man willing, and even eager, to give his life for the Christian faith.
Here, he is addressing his protege, Timothy. encouraging him and giving a last bit of wisdom.
Ooh, that we all might have a purpose so clear.
“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-26 NLT
God doesn’t want us to simply exist. He came to give us life and life to the full! (John 10:10)
Jesus not only gives us the path but HE lights the way if we will walk in it.
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.””
John 8:12 NLT
It’s our choice…
But a choice must be made…
“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living.
But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.””
Joshua 24:15 NIV
